Sometimes we receive e-mails asking why they should pay for hosting when there are still a few companies out there that offer free hosting. This is a great question and one we’d like to address in this blog post.

Free hosting has a large amount of limitations that aren’t a problem with paid hosting. Things like limited disk space, no FTP access, no e-mail, advertisements and long URLs that are nearly impossible for your customers and visitors to remember.

Most free hosting services only offer about 50MB of space, which was a lot 10 years ago, but is insignificant in this day and age of multimedia. A few videos and a Flash animation can fill up your quota quickly (if you can get Flash to work on your website without any hosting support, that is).

Paid hosting services (such as HostingGoneWild) offer many advantages including customer support, design tools, robust statistic analysis, more space and bandwidth than you will ever likely need and even the ability to move your current website to their servers without large fees.
